Simon Bennett: Shortland Street musical coming to Auckland
New Zealand's favourite soap is going from the screen... to the stage.
Auckland Theatre Company's production of Shortland Street: The Musical will open in November.
Director Simon Bennett told Mike Hosking it's been in development for almost four years.
"Guy Langford came up with the idea originally while he was studying in Paris, and I joined just after I left my job as producer of the TV show."
The show will star McLeod's Daughter actress Lisa Chappell and Hobbit actor Mark Hadlow.
The show will be at the Auckland Theatre Company's waterfront base.
