About Simon 
Simon is the chef responsible for the extraordinary menu at bali silent retreat. I’m inspired by wild food, indigenous wisdom and the natural abundance that comes when we honour nature’s cycles. Besides applying the new earth food philosophy in commercial kitchens, simon is in the process of building a cooking school situated amongst lush permaculture gardens. The New Earth Cooking school will be a centre of empowerment for growers, cooks and eaters alike.
After a degree from ELE business school and a job in the IT industry he decided to follow his dream and become a chef. In 2004, Simon became a qualified chef through City and Guilds of London and then worked the following years in some of the world’s most prestigious restaurants. But just cooking for people who have enough money to afford to go to high class places didn’t give enough meaning to his life, so he decided to devote himself fully to his passion of reconnecting people with the origins of food and empowering them to change their lives through better eating habits.
“How do we know New Earth Cooking is not just another health food trend? Being a trained chef for 12 years with a background in health foods, I don’t blindly believe the latest food hypes and health claims which so easily flood the psyche of people in search of a better diet. Don’t get me wrong, I applaud the health food heroes who offer us alternatives to the fake, fatty and fizzy flavours that feature the menus of our favourite cafés. I just don’t believe that a diet of raw cacao, goji berries and chia seeds is going to restore our distorted relationship with real food. New Earth Cooking urges us all to take responsibility for the health of the entire web of life, our precious bodies included. My philosophy, based around 5 P’s, is there to help you explore your relationship with food.”

New Earth Cooking will never tell you what to do. It won’t tell you to sell your house and move to the country or to only buy organic vegetables from now on. Instead, it’s your loving friend, and together we are going to face today’s challenges in order to find the solution that works for you!
Over the last century we’ve given away a lot of our power to big food manufacturers. These guys are quite happy to keep feeding you nutritionally empty food, wrapped in shiny packages and cooked by robots. It’s time claim back your power. If you are willing to admit that your relationship with food is in a rut, than we will promise to help you spice it up!
