20 Things to Kick Out of Your Life in 2020!

It’s a new year and the perfect time to get healthy! These are some common things found in most homes that we should kick out of our home and life this year.

    #1 Isopropyl Alcohol

Consumer Guide of Cosmetic Ingredients says inhalation or ingestion may cause headaches, flushed skin, dizziness, depression, nausea, vomiting, and narcosis.

    #2 Mineral Oil

Baby oil is mineral oil with fragrance and is like plastic wrap for your skin. Toxins can’t get out and that is never good.

#3 Propylene Glycol (PG, PEG, Propanediol and more)

This is a wetting agent and active ingredient in antifreeze, so so bad.

#4 Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) & Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES)

Used in everything: toothpaste, conditioner, & 90% shampoos because it is a foaming agent. It is also found engine degreasers, floor cleaners, and car wash soaps. According to the American College of Toxicology, both of these can cause malformation in children’s eyes and damage the immune system, especially within the skin. Time to say goodbye!

#5 DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (monoethanolamine), and TEA (triethanolamine)

These are typically used in conjunction with another compound being neutralized. These are hormone disruptors and typically found in shampoos, bubble baths, soaps, and facial cleansers.

    #6 Artificial Colors and Dyes (Blue 1, Green 3, D&C Red 33, FD&C Yellow 5, FDC Yellow 6, etc)

These colors and dyes are found EVERYWHERE! They are known carcinogens! Some are made from coal tar and contain heavy metal impurities including arsenic and lead! These are found in everything from our food to hair dyes and makeup.

    #7 Fragrance

One of the sneakiest guys out there. Check out the documentary Stink! This word alone can hide over 4000 chemicals so don’t be deceived by the word fragrance because it is NOT natural.

#8 Imidazolidinyl Urea and DMDM Hydantoin

These release formaldehyde into your body! Exposure to them has a list of side effects from heart palpitations to joint pain and even depression. They are also known carcinogens.

    #9 Bronopol (2-bromo-2nitropropane-1, 3-diol)

This tricky one is found in “natural” makeup both expensive and inexpensive as well as baby care products. It breaks down in products into formaldehyde- hard pass!

    #10 Dioxane

This fun chemical is found in a list of personal care products such as lotions, cream, cleaners and more. Plus it has been found to cause cancer in lab animals, wonderful!

    #11 Talcum Powder (Talc)

Talc is found in our makeup, baby powder, and personal care powders. Using it has shown an increased risk of ovarian and lung cancer.

    #12 Parabens…all of them!

These are big hormone disruptors. This has an estrogenic effect on the body which is the last thing anybody needs.

    #13 Air fresheners

Most air fresheners work by coating your nasal passage with an oily substance that releases a nerve deadening agent. It does not actually eliminate the odor but instead can cause hives and breathing issues.

    #14 Dishwasher Detergents

These contain highly concentrated chlorine and is the number one cause of child poisonings.

    #15 Drain Cleaner

Drain cleaners contain lye, hydrochloric acid, and other caustic ingredients. These are known eye and skin irritants and can cause liver and kidney damage.

    #16 Furniture Polish

For starters, furniture polish is highly flammable, no thank you! It is highly toxic and can cause skin and lung cancer.

    #17 Mold & Mildew Cleaners

These are the cleaners that make you hold your breath and run from the bathroom. They are known to cause asthma attacks and highly toxic because they contain things like formaldehyde and sodium hypochlorite. One is a known carcinogen and the other is corrosive and causes irritation and burning to the eyes, skin, and lungs.

    #18 Oven Cleaners

One of the most common ingredients in oven cleaners is sodium hydroxide. It is caustic, inhibits our reflexes and causes severe tissue damage if swallowed. Do you have kids? I do and that is scary.

    #19 Carpet & Upholstery Cleaners

A combo of highly toxic ingredients both perchloroethylene and ammonium hydroxide. These cause damage to the liver, kidneys and nervous system as well as being irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory system.

    #20 Toilet Bowl Cleaners

Toilet bowl cleaners contain the hydrochloric acid and hypochlorite bleach. Our liver, kidneys, skin and respiratory system are most likely to take the biggest hit and no one needs that.

20 thing in 2020 to kick to the curb, are you ready? Which toxic ingredients have you already kick out of your home? Are you willing to get rid of them all?
    Let’s do this together!

As always be grateful & have faith!

    God bless!

  • Why It Matter What Essential Oils You Use

    Podcast #53

Why It Matter What Essential Oils You Use

This is a common question that is asked and it is not really complicated. We know when we buy better quality foods, we are healthier and feel better. This is the same with essential oils. With more and more essential oil companies popping up everywhere, how does one know which one to choose?

USDA Organic Certified vs. Young Living Seed to Seal
    USDA Organic Certified
    • 5% non-organic materials allowed
    • Chemical-free soil for 7 years
    • 3 years of growing before eligible to meet standards
    • Weeding done by hand or approved synthetic or organic substances
    • May use approved synthetics for pests
    • Continual testing of soil only
    • May use conventional seed that is non-GMO
    • 15 volunteers make up the approval board staff
    • No 3rd party testing required
    • Young Living Seed to Seal
      • Zero pesticides or chemicals permitted
      • Chemical-free soil for 30+ years
      • 5 years of growing before being eligible to meet standards
      • Weed by hand
      • Control pests with essential oils
      • Continual testing of water, soil, and air
      • No conventional grown seeds
      • 50 trained scientists on staff
      • 3rd party testing required
      • Just these results show a difference but when 15 essential oil companies were called, that shows the true reason as to why Young Living stands above the rest.

The final reason that makes a difference in where you buy your essential oils…

Will you be educated? Once you have essential oils in your home, having the education and tools is important. Find someone you trust and you will get so much more out of your essential oils. If you are looking for that person, join me here.

As always be grateful & have faith!

        • What is an Oiler?

          Podcast #50

          What is an Oiler?

Well simply put an oiler is someone who uses essential oils but what does it really mean to use essential oils?

          Diffuser Them

This is one of the basic ways to use essential oils. Grab your diffuser (which you get with your PSK here) and add some oils and water. You are making the area smell amazing and you are supporting your body and those around you,

          Apply them to Your Skin

Do you have an area of discomfort? Apply oils and you will be amazed! Grab lavender and frankincense for the skin or peppermint and panaway for a throbbing head.

          Got Emotions?

Essential oils for emotions is a game changer! You can diffuse them, smell them straight from the bottle and apply them using affirmations to release the negative and embrace the positive. *Note* only Young Living oils are recommended when dealing with emotions and the limbic area of the brain.

          What About Wellness?

Using essential oils to support your overall wellness is a sure sign of an Oiler. This is as simple as grabbing one of your favorite immune supporting oils like Thieves, frankincense or lemon and applying them to your feet or diffusing them.

          Don’t Forget About the Kids

Using essential oils with your kids is simple and easy. Diffusing and applying them daily for the different things that come up is a wonderful way to keep them healthy. Always be your own advocate and apply them to your comfort level.

          Oils Around the Home

Using essential oils beyond diffusing is a step in the right direction. You can use them to clean, in your personal care products, lotions, supplements and more!

          Cooking with Oils

Who knew? Cooking with oils is just like adding your favorite spice like black pepper or herb, just remember that you might only need a drop. This also cuts down your food budget in the herb department.

When you become an Oiler, you are simply adding oils into your daily life and living a healthier life because of it. Most people start with their Premium Starter Kit (12 oils + a diffuser = winning!) and it will be the best investment you will ever make! Are you ready to become an Oiler? I would love to help you get started!

As always be grateful & have faith!

          God Bless!

        • 6 Simple Ways to Keep Your Kids Healthy… Naturally

          Podcast #49

6 Simple Ways to  Keep Your Kids Healthy… Naturally

With all the resources that we have why does it seem like kids are getting sicker quicker and more than ever before?

These are some simple way to keep your kids healthy all year round.

          Balance the Gut

This is huge. Keeping out gut flora in check keeps are entire body running well. Some simple ways are to avoid processed foods and adding in prebiotic and probiotic-rich foods and supplements. Grab yours here.

          Fun in the Sun

Food is a great way to get your vitamins but sometimes we could use a little boost especially with vitamins D & C. Sunlight is a big help where vitamin D is concerned but if you are needing a supplement this is one that we use. Citrus fruits are helpful when it comes to vitamin C but when we need extra this is a great source too!

Let Them Play in the Mud

As odd as it might sound to us as parents there are naturally occurring compounds in the dirt that boost serotonin levels and will also contribute to healthy sleep. On top of that, by interacting with dirt, kids are naturally exposed to a host of natural bacteria and pathogens that actually help strengthen the immune system.

          Avoid Chemicals

This sounds super easy but have we really looked at what we are pouring on to them lately? Check out your toothpaste, lotions, shampoo/conditioner, bug sprays, sunscreen, laundry detergent and more.

Add Some Salt to the Tub

Epsom or sea salt baths are amazing for detoxing the body especially when we add some essential oils to them but it also has an additional health benefit- magnesium. Due to depleted soil and water levels, many adults and children are magnesium deficient.

          Essential Resources

Keeping things like essential oils, homeopathic remedies, herbs, and tinctures on hand is crucial. That away when something does pop up, you are prepared to handle it.

What are some ways that you keep your kids healthy?

          • What’s the Big Deal About Fragrance?

            Podcast #46

What’s the Big Deal About Fragrance

This has become a hot topic everywhere. Why? People are becoming more aware of what they are using daily in their homes. One of the top things that we should all be aware of is fragrance. Fragrance has become known as the new second-hand smoke and is causing toxic effects on our body that we may not even realize.

            What is Fragrance

Fragrance is defined by the FDA as a combination of chemicals that give each perfume or cologne its distinct scent. Fragrance is called a “proprietary blend” or a “trade secret” to the company that contains them. This allows them to hide thousands of chemicals and you would never know.

            Where is Fragrance Found

Most of our personal care products contain fragrance. Things like sunscreen, shampoo, soaps, lotions, makeup, body wash, cleaning products, perfumes, deodorants, and pretty much anything that has a smell may have fragrance. Just check the label.

            Health Concerns of Fragrance

The word fragrance can hide over 3000 chemicals. These chemicals are being linked to reproductive toxicity, central nervous system disruptor, endocrine disruptors, allergies, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal problems, cardiovascular problems, cancer and more. What is even more alarming is the fact that these chemicals are even being found in the blood of newborns meaning that the chemicals the mother is being exposed to are now being passed onto her baby.

            What Do We Do Now

Read your labels- all of them. Avoid any label with the word “fragrance” on it. Check out the documentary “Stink.” We also need to realize that the TSCA  a law made to protect us is actually doing the exact opposite.

Are you ready to be the gatekeeper of your home? If you could protect your family from a list of health issues would you? Today take the challenge and check your labels. Do they have the word fragrance? Will you continue to use them?

As always, be grateful & have faith!

            God Bless!
