The birth of Jesus was marked by two things: simplicity and generosity. Jesus was born in the humblest surroundings to poor parents. His birth was history’s greatest act of generosity. Today, simplicity and generosity have been replaced with extravagance and reciprocity. We create stress by overspending – and much of our giving is directed toward those who least need it or will reciprocate it. Jesus spoke of giving to those in need, rather than those who already had much.
