Simple Security #5 – End to End Encryption

Listen Later

I like to call it the marketing of security. Every messaging platform is proud to announce their use of End to End Encryption (E2EE). While its good for the end user, the companies who use this security feature not telling everything.

There is one big weakness to E2EE, and it is major, When one of the devices that use E2EE is compromised, E2EE is actually useless. The attacker can read what ever he wants before any encryption been made. That’s why this solution is good, but it is good for marketing more.

Users love to hear about how no one can attack their messages in the middle of the transfer, but they think that it’s also protecting them from attackers who hack their devices.

End to End encryption is good when the messages are in transit between protected machines.
