The church is imperfect. But the Church is His bride. We try so hard to live up to what we believe Christ wants from us, but we get sidetracked by denominations and being perfect. The pont is when Jesus died on the cross, we were covered and it is finished. Once and for all. The power comes when we know we are forgiven.

Masks in the Church

The Church is the laboratory where He does stuff. There is a wide variety of personalities. Some we like, and some we don’t like. But we all belong to Jesus. Every problem in the Church comes from disbelief of what God has clearly taught. And because we really can’t bring ourselves to believe it, we pretend we do. That’s the mask. And when we pretend we do, we become phony, angry, and self-righteous.

The Mother of All Masks

You call yourself a Christian? When was the last time you witnessed for Christ? Do you Tithe? Did you spend any time with the Lord this morning? When was the last time you read your Bible? When was the last time you spent a season in prayer? And you call yourself a Christian?!?

That’s how easy it is to manipulate you. The self-righteous wear a mask of perfection, and we measure ourselves against a fake standard, and we feel guilty.

The Devil’s Trinity

The safety-net that God gives us that enables us to take off our masks. Fear and guilt and shame is what keeps us from removing our masks. Growing closer and more supportative as the Church.

Ugliness in a Nudist Colony

God knows our name. He knows everything about us. The bad stuff, the really bad stuff that we tremble to think someone will find out. But He Loves us and is not angry with us. That gives us strength that enables us to begin to take off our masks. Steve thinks we will not see awakening until we know each others names.
