On today’s episode of “Simply Superior,” we learn about the Duluth NAACP’s call on Twin Ports police to end pretextual stops, which they say target motorists of color at a far higher rate than white drivers. The civil rights group says the stops are used by officers to focus on minor violations for the stops as a means to investigate for more serious crimes. NAACP staff speak with host Robin Washington on the effort and a recent "Stop the Stops" rally that attracted regional and national figures to the area. Washington also speaks with a national policing expert. We then hear from singer-songwriter Rachael Kilgour, a major breakout artist from the region.
