Om Swami says, without sincerity, there is no attainment of any kind. Sincerity is your inner feeling intention and action. When you are sincere you are truthful. In the absence of sincerity, everything becomes superfluous, things are done with the intention to show something to somebody.

In the spiritual path, sincerity means you are acting in line with your intention. Sincerity is the bedrock of all spiritual and even material progress. The first characteristic of sincerity is that your intention, feelings, thoughts, and actions are in harmony. The second aspect of sincerity is when we start to feel proximity to the divine. In that sense of familiarity, what often happens is that we start to lose sincerity. Earlier we only wanted god, enlightenment. But once you are able to slip into samadhi, or we feel we have gotten what we want, people tend to slip into a trade with the divine. This is the complete destruction of sincerity. A sincere person is not on the spiritual path to get their desires fulfilled they are in it because they love it.
