Recording artist Obii was born in Nigeria and raised in Italy. He has always had a passion for jazz music, especially female vocalists. Obii's own vocal range goes from baritone to soprano, but he is most comfortable singing in the higher ranges.

Obii now lives in Austin and is enrolled in a PhD program while still pursuing his singing career. Besides his own music, Obii's most regularly performed renditions include Sarah Vaughn's "Misty" and Billy Holiday's "Strange Fruit".
