Proverbs 20:5
Counsel in a person’s heart is like deep water, but an understanding person draws it out.

🎙️ “He got caught cheating. I’m not talking rumors — innuendoes, or speculation I’m talking pants down — hot and heavy – what y’all doing in here??!!
But instead of just confessing it, he said, The reason is… the reason is… ‘I’m not really wrong… I’m just misunderstood.’
😳 Bro, what?
That right there — that’s the anthem of our age.
Everybody’s singing their own remixed version of “reasons.”
But you and I both know… after all our reasons why,
most of those reasons still end up being lies we tell ourselves.
And that’s why Proverbs 21:2 hits so hard — ‘Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.’
See, every one of us thinks we’re the exception to the rule. We all know how to justify our mess. And then we judge others by what they do, While we judge ourselves by what we meant to do.
There’s a big difference. We call it good intentions — but God calls it unfinished work.
We say: ‘I didn’t lie — I just didn’t tell everything.’ ‘I wasn’t gossiping — I was just venting.’ ‘I wasn’t wrong — I was just misunderstood.’
See how easy it is to remix the truth when you’re the DJ of your own excuses?
But God doesn’t weigh your playlist — He weighs your heart. He’s not fooled by how smooth you sound when you spin your story. He’s listening for what’s driving it underneath.
And here’s the encouragement: God doesn’t expose your heart to shame you — He reveals it to shape you. When you let Him weigh your motives, He can correct your course before the consequences hit.
🪞 Real talk: You can lie to the crowd, you can even convince yourself… but you can’t outsmart the scale of heaven.
Let God weigh it — before it gets exposed to the world.
Because the truth is — He measures the motive, not the spin. He doesn’t shame you for being off — He invites you to recalibrate.
Before He has to correct you publicly, He gives you a chance to check yourself privately. That’s grace. That’s love. That’s the heart check before the heartache. ❤️🔥
🎤 Remember: “Don’t remix your wrongs into reasons — let God remix your heart into truth.”
Prayer
Search me, Lord — weigh my heart, and make me whole.
Today’s Challenge
Before you go to sleep tonight, replay your day. Don’t ask, “Did I win?” — ask, “Was I true?” Invite God to weigh your motives, and make the correction before it becomes the consequence.
