Sinner, Sinner, Sinner... Saint!

Listen Later

All Saints Day is an ancient Christian tradition. There is a reason All Hallows Eve is the evening before All Saints Day. It was to make the point that goblins and ghosts may have their brief sway but the saints of God win out in the end against the darkness. This morning we celebrate the relationship we have with those who have gone before us to be with God. Because they are in Christ and we are in Christ there is an unbreakable bond between us that not even death can break. We call that bond the communion of saints, which means the continuity we have with those who go before us and those who follow after us. No church is greater than its saints; no congregation can accomplish more than the spiritual capacity of its men and women of God. Those who have lead and served in the past have made us and St. Andrew who we are today. We who serve and lead today will make St. Andrew what God is calling it to be tomorrow and into the future. May our God find us a long, faithful line of saints.
