More support for community conservation groups is needed - so volunteers don't lose interest.
That's what has come out of a report by Predator Free New Zealand.
It's found smaller conservation community groups feel underfunded and undervalued, meaning they could walk away from their war against pests.
Predator Free Chairman Sir Rob Fenwick told Mike Hosking the groups that are supposed to be supporting volunteers aren't coordinated or supportive.
"People who are meant to be doing this 'terrific' work for the predator-free campaign, are running the risk of feeling unacknowledged and walking away.
