We do have a very special guest on this episode: An author who specializes in Children’s literature, she is also a Mother by the name of Ms.Shaqkena Thompson who alongside her daughter, wrote a book called: AB4C! Shaqkena Thompson, an incredible children’s book author, devoted mother, and proud army veteran. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Jacksonville, Shaqkena has always had a passion for storytelling and connecting with young minds. Her experiences as a young girl and now a mother have shaped her perspective and imbued her writing with invaluable empathy and understanding. With each book, Shaqkena aims to amplify the adolescent experiences of children, providing them with relatable characters that look and feel like them, characters that they can identify with and find inspiration in. Her stories celebrate diversity, foster self-confidence, and encourage young girls to dream big and embrace their uniqueness.

Sis get up and in your bag! Sometimes you gotta hit the reset button! You gotta be open to a different way of looking at things. You must be open to letting go of old things, things that may have disappointed you, people that no longer deserve to be in your life, and experiences. Time to set your mind and get the energy and everything you deserve in life. You must be willing to clear out the old shit to see your path. Time set your plans in action, hold on to your faith, and be ready for the new blessings that’s coming your way✨

Do you believe you are the company you keep?
⁃ At times the people that you associate yourself with, including your friends, significant others, acquaintances and other personal connections, are a reflection of your own character as much as they are a reflection of themselves.
⁃ Our parents know way before we do if you have a loyal friend around or inform you if something is off about a certain person.

At times we find it hard to find good opportunities or get tired of the no’s. Today, “No” is still not an acceptable answer. But while we were trying so hard to squeeze in a spot at the table, to turn these no’s into yes’s — we may have been missing the point. The idea isn’t to just win a seat at the table but to build our own tables. Get up sis! The table is already yours. Create it and build it and make room for other women have opportunity to sit at your table. Effecting change is never easy, but it is worth it. And the only way we can continue this momentum is by working together and believing in our own potential.

Stop people pleasing and start setting healthy boundaries! Maintaining healthy boundaries is a way of taking care of your life, but setting those boundaries can be hard. The process starts with asking yourself what you need. Consider this your guide to lovingly protecting your space and energy while encouraging even better relationships. We give and give and give - at the expense of our well-being and sometimes at the expense of our own passions and fulfillment. Time for a reframe! Not only is having boundaries not selfish - but we are better givers when we practice conscious boundaries.
