HIWA:Hawaii to West African Poetry Exchange. The host for this show is Sharon Thomas Yarbrough. The guests are Sandra A. Simms, Apiorkor Seyiram Ashong-Abbey, Karla Brundage and Britney Tachie.
The idea for this collection, Sisters Across Oceans, was inspired by the much needed conversation between influential Black women across the African diaspora. What occurred was an extraordinary, almost instantaneous, international connectivity. When presented with the opportunity to have a conversation through exchanges across two oceans, the women in this collection created a fresh community that relied on modern and traditional technologies of communication: email correspondence, telephone calls, and Zoom meetings.
