The SIU yesterday (Tuesday) announced that the 15.3-million-rand tender awarded by the Limpopo Provincial Government for the construction of the 192 transitional residential units known as Talana shacks was fraudulently obtained. The investigation has revealed that the appointed service provider Aventine Group CC made misrepresentations and forged documents to influence the direction of the bid. If you may remember that these are the same shacks that were opened by Premier Mathabatha. What is it then that drew suspicion and how were the funds paid out?
