It has been just over six weeks since explosive eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines began on Friday, April 9th. On this segment we asked a Red Cross worker, a journalist, and a government adviser about the ongoing issues being faced in the crisis response.
They say people are getting accustomed to the new normal - living in shelters, living with strangers, schooling online, returning to work or finding new work, cleaning ash, staying weary of the volcano. The damage and loss described is saddening to say the least. Agriculture has been decimated. Homes, businesses and infrastructure has been physical ruined. But still all our speakers were nevertheless optimistic.
