In February 2013, my mom had a major medical scare. Shortness of breath landed her in an emergency room. Now a cardio angiogram showed a total blockage around her heart.

It was so serious, they immediately wheeled her to the operating room for emergency by-pass surgery.

Her surgery was successful and she has recovered nicely.

But that never would have happened apart from the angiogram. That x-ray helped her doctors diagnose her problem.

But here's the key point. It was powerless to repair mom's heart. She needed the skilled hands of her surgeon.

I tell this story to illustrate the purpose of the law.

The law shows us our sin, but it can't save us from our sin. For that We need the saving work of Jesus.
