Since this drain is “ongoing,” its negative effects are not limited to the immediate moment, but tend to accumulate, creating a cumulative effect of talent shortage and exacerbating the country’s development problems in the long term. This threatens Nepal’s ability to modernize and its competitiveness in the global arena.
