After narrowly evading capture, Maya and Tim arrive in New Hudson and run into the man who had been following them in Waystation. The man claims he works with Maya’s parents, but neither Tim nor Maya trusts him. As the man drives them to Hudson Beach, in theory, to meet Maya’s parents, Maya receives a text message warning them to be careful and advising her and Tim to try and escape.
