The riches of Christ are most fully realised when we have skin in the game, sacrificing some part of ourselves for Him and others. Paul bore the brunt of his faith on his back. Literally. He had skin in the game, from the sacrifice of his own body (beatings) to the sacrifice of his time, treasure and talent.
