Today, we’re diving into the story of Philip, one of the twelve apostles. His journey with Jesus is a powerful reminder of how God uses each of us, just as we are, to accomplish His purposes.

Philip was a process person—a facts-and-figures guy who needed all the details before making a decision. He wasn’t one to leap without knowing exactly where he’d land. Yet, when Jesus called him, Philip responded immediately, leaving behind his calculations and hesitations to follow the Messiah.

But even as a disciple, Philip’s practical mindset sometimes held him back. Remember the feeding of the 5,000? When Jesus asked Philip how they’d feed the crowd, Philip’s response was all about the numbers: “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” (John 6:7) Philip’s math said, “It’s impossible.” But Jesus was teaching him—and us—that faith changes the equation.

Here’s what we can learn from Philip: 👉 God made us the way we are for a reason—whether we’re analytical like Philip or creative and spontaneous. 👉 Our strengths become even greater when we surrender them to God and trust Him with what we can’t control. 👉 Faith doesn’t ignore the facts—it counts the cost, but then trusts God to make a way.

Philip’s story reminds us that even when the numbers don’t add up, God is faithful to provide and make the impossible possible. And when we add faith to our calculations, He can do incredible things through us!

Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will!

Today, we’re diving into the life of Andrew, one of the Twelve disciples and a man who truly embraced what it means to serve with humility and joy. Andrew wasn’t in the spotlight like his brother Simon Peter, but his willingness to “play second fiddle” made him one of the most remarkable apostles in Jesus’ ministry.

Here are three powerful lessons from Andrew’s life:

🌟 He Served with Joy

After meeting Jesus, Andrew’s joy was so abundant that he couldn’t keep it to himself. His first action was to bring his brother Simon to Jesus, even knowing Simon might overshadow him. Andrew’s heart overflowed with the joy of knowing Christ, and he had to share it!

🌟 He Served with Optimism

When faced with the challenge of feeding 5,000, Andrew brought a boy’s small lunch to Jesus. Though it seemed insignificant, Andrew’s faith-fueled optimism led to one of Jesus’ most incredible miracles.

🌟 He Served with Humility

When Gentiles wanted to meet Jesus, Andrew didn’t hesitate. He brought the request to Jesus, unafraid of how others might react. Andrew’s humility and focus on serving made him fearless in doing what was right.

Andrew knew that Jesus was the story, and he was content to stay in the background. But because of his selfless service, Andrew became part of the story—and his legacy of joyful, optimistic, and humble service inspires us to this day.

That’s a truth worth pondering, and this is Truth Worth Living!

Today, we’re diving into the life of Simon Peter. Did you know that Peter was the only disciple Jesus formally renamed? Originally named Simon, which means “listening,” Jesus changed his name to Peter, or “the rock,” not because he was already steadfast, but because of what he would become in Jesus’ hands. 🪨

From an impetuous, overbearing fisherman to a pillar of the early church, Peter’s transformation shows us the power of staying close to Jesus, listening, and letting God shape us. When the religious leaders saw Peter’s boldness in the book of Acts, they were astonished. Why? Because he was an unschooled, ordinary man who had been with Jesus. 🙏

Peter’s journey reminds us that if we choose to follow Jesus, no matter how “ordinary” we feel, He can do extraordinary things through us for His glory.
