SLAP HAPPY

My little brother rūku dropped his debut album INSIDE VOICE recently and he sat down with me to talk about it.

From writing the opening songs to the project, to conceptualising the name and the final race to have it delivered in time for the launch show that was already booked, we cover all of his thoughts and insights about the process.

I am so proud of him and this project and everything that he is standing for and accomplishing at the moment and am so excited to see how the rest of his journey plays out.

The 2023 NRL grand final will be remembered for many years to come for a whole host of reasons, mainly the legendary performance from Penrith's chief playmaker Nathan Cleary.

Also I reveal which AFL team I have chosen to support after living in Melbourne and being teamless for 3 years. The AFL grand final was an absolute spectacle that left me inspired.

On the 23rd of September at The Leadbeater Hotel in Richmond, we gathered for the launch party of rūku's debut album Inside Voice.

The show was a huge success and everything that we could've asked for, as so many different people from so many different pockets of Melbourne's music and martial arts communities descended upon the band room for a night of fun, dance and good music.

My first project in 8 years is here... and it's called 'The People's Champ'.

I wanted to get back to some of my boom bap roots on this project whilst just getting back to the essence of what I do, which is to 'just rap'.

I enjoyed this process and all the collaborators that I worked with in the process.

My entire life changed on a quiet Sunday recently as I worked the cafe floor at my place of employment - as Naval Ravikant says, there's nothing like a health scare to add contrast and context to our perceived problems and current issues.
