Members Reviews:
An Important Addition to Our Understanding of Christianity and Slavery
This review is from: Slavery's Heroes: George Liele and the Ethiopian Baptists of Jamaica 1783-1865 (Kindle Edition)
I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Doreen at length just before this book went to press. I was and am most impressed with her scholarship and her passion for the subject. This area of History has long been neglected, but the beginnings of Christianity in Jamaica among slaves and free black men and women is an important aspect of out Baptist History, and this book will provide the reader with valuable insights into the trials and tribulations of this time.
