Before we gave our lives to Christ, we were all slaves to sin—bound by the desires of the flesh and the values of this world. But the moment we surrendered to Jesus, we were set free. We received freedom from our sinful nature and were called to walk in God's righteousness. In other words, we exchanged slavery to sin for slavery to righteousness.
