There is no such thing as unrestricted freedom. In a sense, we are all a slave to something or someone. Either a slave to sin or to righteousness. We are slaves either way. Anyone who understands the importance of being a slave to righteousness will continue to pursue and please the Lord; while ignorance will make us live our lives irresponsibly.
