We're talking about something I call, "Slaying the Dragon".  Every time something new comes along, Legions of people rush in to tear it down, making as much money from it as possible, until there is nearly nothing left to gain from it.  If you're positioned right there can be a lot to gain early on.  Otherwise, you're left outside to simply witness the devastation as some people get really really rich.  What can we do about it if we're not the ones in the race?
