Today’s lesson, “Slipping, Drifting, and Falling Away,” from Hebrews 2:1–3, warns us that if we are not moving forward with Christ, we are drifting backward. Drifting doesn’t happen suddenly—it begins with a weakening prayer life, neglecting the Word, or becoming complacent, just as the prodigal son little by little pulled away until he was far from his father. Like a coal removed from the fire that quickly grows cold, we too lose our fire when we separate from God and His people. But there is hope—through repentance we can return to the Father before it’s too late.
