June 25, 2019 SlugisDoug episode 87: Day 3 of 12 to MMPR?
Apparently I am now doing the 12 Podcasting days to the Marshall Mcluhan Podcasters Roundtable. This will be the 3rd instalment.
I continue my exploration on the secrets of the Universe as revealed through art. Actually, it’s more me rambling on saying stuff that comes to mind. Just putting that first stroke on the canvas.

June 24, 2019 SlugisDoug episode 86: A Dark Night of the Soul
I had trouble falling asleep last night. And may have had a small existential crisis or “Dark Night of the Soul.” It sounds worse than it was. The result; I’m tired today, didn’t get much sleep. And you get a new episode to listen to. It takes some time to warm up and get to the point, but I think it eventually gets there.

Some of the things I get wrong in this episode or am unable to remember:
1. The musical artist that I was trying to remember the last name of is Michael Kiwanuka
2. Etienne-Louis Boulee lived in the late 1700s
3. Boulee’s Cenotaph design was for Sir Isaac Newton, not Gallileo.
4. I believe the quote regarding the contemplation of the sublime is from Immanuel Kant: “Whereas the beautiful is limited, the sublime is limitless, so that the mind in the presence of the sublime, attempting to imagine what it cannot, has pain in the failure but pleasure in contemplating the immensity of the attempt”
5. Picasso painted his Las Meninas in 1957, 50 years after painting Les Desmoiselles D’Avignon. His exploration of Velazquez’s work (painted 301 years before in 1656) is rooted in much more than I explain and much more that I didn’t learn until I just recently searched it up on the internet. I clearly have some reading to do.

March 22, 2019SlugisDoug episode 83: The Storyteller, The Listener and The Eavesdropper.
This week I sat down and reread and recorded a piece of writing from 1996. This was my first semester so-called “research thesis” at Carleton University’s School of Architecture. More of an exploration of creative writing, and narrative building than a treatise on a type of architecture. It was, I think, an attempt to try to develop a way of creating something that might eventually, somehow, turn itself into an architecture. It is clearly very flawed as a “research thesis” but as a piece of art it is something that I am pretty proud of. If anything, it was interesting to me to revisit this work and try to breathe new life into it by creating something new from it.

It`s finally here folks! Less than 24 hours away. Jason over at UpinthisBrain is going to release episode 400 of the UpinthisBrain podcast and it will mark the beginning of the 5th installment of the 12 Podcasting Days of Christmas. Something that I know that we have ALL been waiting for.
So. This is the last that you will here from me here, for now. I turn the next 12 days of podcasting over to my esteemed colleague (Armpit) Jason and I know that he will do better than me for the next 12 podcasting days.
