Slugghead Returns for The DOD45 Halloween Episode (Ep. 118)

Listen Later

This Halloween edition of The DOD45 Show features Slugghead... siblings Nalei and Soul, talking creativity, horror, drawing, spooky soundscapes and their new EP. They chat about growing up making music in Salt Lake City, the roots of Slugghead (born out of boredom, imagination and genre‐blending alt-pop, punk, electronic and experimental soundscapes), their 2024 live album Ol’ Blue Gallery Live!, their latest full-length Jimmy Cry (2025) and the upcoming EP (featuring the track “I Cried on Stage With Sage Francis”).

You’ll hear stories about the weirdest places they’ve stayed, the scariest songs they’ve written, Halloween costume horror stories, zombie apocalypse survival picks, and the terrifying things that inspired them growing up.

We also share a bunch of spooky favourites from the hosts and guest:

Did you know? Sage Francis recorded his first demo tape in 1996, won major emcee battle titles (including the 2000 Scribble Jam), and founded his own label Strange Famous. Meanwhile Mr. Dibbs launched the turntablist collective 1200 Hobos in the early ’90s, released key albums like The 30th Song, and helped build the culture of alternative hip-hop turning scratching into art.
