Small Wonder: S1E14: The Burrito Story

Listen Later

Hey Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Today, I covered S1E14: The Burrito Story, which aired on January 4, 1986.
In this episode Jamie attempts to mass produce burritos made by Vicki but gets in over his head and he learns a thing or two about how to run a business.
First rule of running a business, don't charge less for the product than it cost to make it, granted it cost him nothing for the ingredients because he was charging the family account at the market and runs up a bill of $186.00.
Also in this episode Joan wants to have a job making commission selling clothes at a boutique. Whether we hear more about this job in future episodes before she later goes on to become Jamie's teacher, who knows, Also we get Ted's wisecracks about Joan's friend who became a VP after she was a copy editor and how she must have "struggled with her boss" in other words slept her way to the top to get the position. This was such a crap thing in the 80's, like saying women can't do it on their own reach their own success without a man to help them along. Also Ted tells Joan she can take the job as long as she isn't too tired for him, just so long as she can perform her wifely duties of sex with her husband because that's all that matters to Ted.
This was a fun episode ,we got to see Reggie again. He's a cool dude. I loved how he called Vicki "little mama" and she called him "big papa"
Of course Harriet has to get in on this burrito making business as well and helps the boys and Vicki out at 1am when they get an order for 100 burritos for Joe's Diner.
This was a fun episode.
Join me next month for Small Wonder S1E15: The Camping Trip, which aired on January 11, 1986.
In this episode The Lawsons and Harriet and Reggie take a wilderness camping trip and get lost.
