While it wasn’t functional, Snoppa showed off their All-terrain electric stabilization cinema dolly at CES 2022. This is a 3-legged base you fit a tripod onto, then move around via remote control in many situations.

The rover – which is still on Kickstarter – can drive and shoot content indoors or out. It can handle camera and tripods up to 33 lbs, perfect with most DSLR and mid-size video cameras. It can move up to 18.6 MPH so it can capture anything from a walk to a run.

Outdoors, the larger rubber wheels of the camera stabilizer can tackle sidewalks, uneven walk ways, grass, gravel, and more. This is through the active dampening system. Each wheel arm holds a gyroscopic sensor, a hall sensor, and an accelerometer to detect and counter any changes in the terrain. All compensations can be done within 30-50 nanoseconds (depending on direction).

Indoors, this is a perfect camera dolly for a COVID free environment. The operator can be placed in another room so they can control the camera. The wheel system will also be able to maneuver over cables and carpet.

Multiple modes available in the app – Ortho mode (moving in 2 single axis lines), free mode, arc mode – to circle around a subject, pre-program mode (which you can make a template of), target mode (keeping the target location in camera view), lock mode, and follow mode.

The rover also has smart object tracking, so it can follow a target, reset, then follow it again.

The dolly can be controlled via app, or through a transmitter control.

The Snoppa Rover has fast charging support, and an interchangable battery design. This allows you to replace a battery while the other is still powering the unit. Perfect for long Hyper lapse shots, or multiple runs throughout the day.
