Snow and Rain Starting 4 AM | Utah Weather

Listen Later

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Utah Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th.
That light rain you heard tapping at your window overnight? It's already packing up and heading out. Left behind about a tenth of an inch across the Wasatch Front. And now those clouds are tearing open like wrapping paper. High pressure's sliding in with a gift that feels more like April than late February.
Along the Wasatch Front, any leftover showers wrap up by 8 A.M. Then sunshine takes over. You're hitting 55 degrees this afternoon — perfect excuse for a lunchtime walk. Tonight drops to 37 under partly cloudy skies.
Now drive south to St. George. Completely different universe down there. You're looking at 80 degrees under full sun. That's nearly 30 degrees warmer than normal. Tonight stays mild at 48 with clear skies. Sunburn weather in February.. Up in the mountains, a few rain and snow showers hang around early this morning. Best chance hits around 4 A.M. with nearly a coin flip on precipitation. By afternoon, you dry out and climb to 46 degrees. Fair warning though — it'll feel like 29 around 8 A.M., so layer up if you're heading out early. Tonight clears to 30 degrees.
Here's your week ahead. Friday keeps the sunshine rolling with 60 along the Wasatch Front and 80 down south. Saturday stays warm. Then Saturday night, the pattern flips. A storm system moves in with rain chances lasting through Monday. Mountains could see snow. Tuesday we start drying out.
One more thing — we're gaining almost three minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise hits at 7:07 A.M. and sunset at 6:16 P.M. Spring equinox is just three weeks out. And today sure feels like a preview.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
