Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Ohio Weather Podcast. It's Tuesday, February 24th. And that dusting of snow on your windshield? That's just the appetizer.
Folks, the main course arrives tonight. Let me walk you through it.
Central Ohio, you're quiet until 11 PM. That's when light snow sneaks in and sticks around until 5 AM. Temperatures slide to 20 degrees by 8 AM. Wind chill? Thirteen degrees for your morning commute. Feels like January slapped February in the face. Winds shift southwest around 10 AM. And you'll climb to 37 degrees by 6 PM.
Now push northeast. Cleveland, Akron, Canton.. You're catching the heavier stuff. Snow rolls in by 7 PM, peaks around 10 PM. And doesn't quit until 3 AM. Lows drop to 18 degrees near 5 AM. Gusts hitting 29 miles an hour make it feel like 18 degrees. That's the kind of cold where your car door handle fights back. You'll recover to 39 degrees tomorrow, but tonight is rough.
Southwest Ohio, you're the lucky ones. Just a slight chance of rain around 3 AM. You'll wake to 21 degrees, then cruise to 41 by 6 PM once winds go southwest around 7 AM. Practically tropical by comparison.
Looking ahead, Wednesday brings a legit warmup. Southwest Ohio could touch 54 degrees. Enjoy that.. Because Thursday a new system barrels in with snow chances statewide. Northeast Ohio, you could see 2 to 4 inches if the track holds north. Central Ohio, 1 to 3 inches. Southwest Ohio might dodge the worst of it. Classic north versus south divide.
Sunrise today at 7:14 AM. Sunset at 6:19 PM. That's 2 minutes and 33 seconds more daylight than yesterday. Every little bit counts.
Charge your phone tonight. If you're in northeast Ohio, maybe toss that ice scraper on the front seat instead of the trunk.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
