Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Massachusetts Weather Podcast for Wednesday, February 25th.
That snow hitting your windshield right now? That's a clipper system doing a quick drive by. We've already picked up a couple tenths of an inch. And there's more coming before this wraps up around 1 P.M.
Eastern Mass is catching the worst of it. One to three inches by midday. And south winds gusting to 26 miles an hour are blowing it sideways. The kind of snow that finds your collar no matter how tight you zip up. Highs reach 39 degrees.. Perfectly average for late February, which somehow feels disappointing.
Slide west on the Pike toward Worcester and the snow thins out. One to two inches possible before 1 P.M. Southwest gusts hit 25 miles an hour. Highs land at 37 degrees.
Now the Berkshires are playing a different game entirely. Mostly cloudy through the day with barely a flake. But tonight around 10 P.M.. That's when the snow sneaks in out west. Lows drop to 23 degrees.
Statewide tonight, scattered rain and snow showers hang around. Lows range from 23 to 29 degrees.
Thursday the sun comes back. Highs climb to 40 or 41 degrees. Enjoy that warmth because Thursday night gets nasty. The Berkshires plunge to 14 degrees. Boston holds near 20. That's a 25 degrees freefall in a few hours.
Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday stay quiet near 40 degrees. Saturday's the gem. Mid forties, your best day of the week. Grab lunch outside if you can. Then Sunday night.. An Arctic outbreak crashes the party. Monday's highs struggle to crack the mid twenties. Lows dip into single digits. Three weeks from the spring equinox and winter just called an audible.
Folks, keep those snow brushes in the car today. You'll need them.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
