Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Wisconsin Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd.
Step outside right now and you'll feel 16 degrees trying to steal your breath. Wind chills? They're sitting at 11 degrees. That's the kind of cold where your face goes numb before you reach the mailbox.
But here's the plot twist.. This week is about to give you whiplash.
Southeast Wisconsin climbs to 26 degrees by 2 P.M. Today under mostly sunny skies. Tonight drops to 19 degrees. Then Tuesday? You rocket to 39 degrees. But that warmth comes with a price — a fast-moving clipper brings light snow and gusty southwest winds to 20 miles an hour by afternoon.
South Central Wisconsin follows the same script. You hit 25 degrees by 3 P.M. Today, then 39 degrees tomorrow. Watch for flurries before 7 A.M. This morning. Snow chances ramp up Tuesday afternoon. Tonight's low is a bone-chilling 16 degrees.
Northeast Wisconsin stays colder. You only reach 23 degrees by 4 P.M. Today. Snow showers linger. Tuesday brings better snow chances — especially north of Highway 8 — before warming to 34 degrees.
Now here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Tuesday's clipper drops light snow statewide. The heaviest amounts hit up north. Then Friday delivers the shocker — highs soar into the 40s and 50s. Milwaukee hits 49 degrees. Madison reaches 51. Green Bay sees 48. But don't get too comfortable. By Saturday, temperatures crash back to the 20s and 30s.
One bright spot? We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:45 A.M. Sunset at 5:40 P.M.
Layer up today. You'll need it.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
