We have nothing to fear but our romantic partners, business associates, neighbors and random lunatics, all of whom seem to be capable of knifing us in the back at a moment's notice, apparently. At least that's what psychologist Dr. Amanda Vicary says our true crime obsession is training us to believe, and she has more to say on what that means for our society.

Dr. Amanda Vicary is the Chair of the Psychology Department at Illinois Wesleyan University. She teaches courses on crime and the justice system, gender, and social psychology, in addition to researching topics related to the criminal justice system. She has written for The Atlantic, appeared on NPR multiple times to discuss her work, and been featured as an expert by Investigation Discovery.
