New Zealand was ranked the third most generous country in the world in a recent Charities "Giving Index". The country was only behind Australia and the United States. Each year, individuals, trusts and charities give around $3 billion to New Zealand causes. There are about 28 thousand registered charitable organizations in Aotearoa. Michael Trengrove, a co-founder of Code Club Aotearoa and winner of the Microsoft Emerging Cup, talks about Charity in New Zealand and Brazil. Michael has experience in helping communities in the Brazilian Amazon. In New Zealand, he teaches young primary school children how to code. He also teaches kids how to apply technology in a garden to learn how to raise productivity. Artificial Intelligence, IoT, poverty in New Zealand, diversity and inclusion in software development are part of the discussion in this episode.
