David Cozart is the Director of the Father Initiative with the Lexington Leadership Foundation. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 19.7 million children, more than 1 in 4, live without a father in the home. Children raised in homes where the father is not present are at greater risk of encountering a host of problems, from poverty and incarceration to teen pregnancy and childhood obesity. To help counteract that, the Fatherhood Initiative seeks to "restore, equip and deploy fathers and male leaders in families, the faith community and throughout Lexington's communities."
