In a nutshell, CSOS seeks to partner with its stakeholders on issues that affect the different types of community schemes, learn from each other and solve the myriad of challenges faced by property owners, managers and agents alike. The CSOS addresses issues typically experienced in any community schemes raging from luxurious lifestyle estates to smaller sectional title complexes. Many of these issues fall under neighbour law (noise, pets, property encroachment, etc.).
The organisation also provides guidance on common misconceptions concerning general safety, the limitations of insurance and the freedom (and limitations) of Home Owners Associations or Body Corporates to levy fines as well as privileges.
Guest on the line: Adv. Boyce Mkhize, Chief Ombud at the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS).
