'Digital sharecropping' is probably a more fair assessment than 'digital slavery', but the sentiment is pretty much the same. If you find your self-esteem and self-ego tied up with numbers on social media (likes, followers, views, etc) -- you're metaphorically enslaved to social media, and their whims.
Social media is a metaphorical matrix. If we are being subtly programmed to act, think, and feel a certain way -- we are becoming enslaved.
Consider -- if you ever feel social media 'nudging' you to think, feel, and behave a certain way, this is bad.
If your ultimate goal is apex artistic productivity, or to become the most epic human-being, you must delete Instagram, stop using Reddit, stop using Facebook, and instead -- become a producer and creator (instead of a passive consumer of social media content).
