Situations in Minnesota are escalating by the minute. Recently, a Sunday service at a church much like mine (evangelical) was interrupted by anti -ICE protesters who claimed they were imitating Christ’s cleansing of the temple. As Christians, we need to ask how we should think about a moment like this—one that touches on national borders, those who entered the U.S. illegally, law and order, compassion, and much more. If we don’t slow down to think biblically and carefully about such a volatile issue, we may find ourselves echoing the loudest political voices around us, whether from the right or the left. This is my attempt to engage the moment with both clarity and grace.
