When working with national team's during major tournaments it is not uncommon within 7 days teams can often be exposed to 4 training sessions and  3 full matches all whilst, dealing with the stress and pressure of competing, traveling between cities as well as sleeping and eating in unfamiliar environments, it becomes quickly apparent that recovery is essential for these players.

In this solo episode I explore what factors we consider when implementing recovery strategies such as…

  • Not all individuals respond the same to recovery.
  • ·The importance of understanding Sympathetic and Parasympathetic responses to recovery.
  • Why the timing of recovery is important and how you can get it wrong.

The “Recovery Buffet” is a well-known concept in the world of high performance and is a vehicle that is used to provide a selection of recovery strategies and helps individuals establish autonomy when choosing what recovery methods works best for them.
