In episode eleven of Someone's Gotta Do It, I sit down with Don Hetherington. Don suffered an early life trauma that changed the entire direction of his life. What followed were years of addiction, crime and prison. A cycle he felt he'd never escape.
He talks about what it feels like to be in addiction, spending years in prison, and the moment a chance encounter with an old friend who had been clean for three years changed everything.
He opens up about his last day using, the daily steps he takes to stay clean, and rebuilding relationships with his daughter and his family that he thought were gone forever.
Dons now clean and living a completely different life. And he's just getting started.
If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, help is available and you don't have to face it alone. Please reach out.
