David recounted last Sunday of the Acts 16 stories of God’s “going down ANY road He thinks might lead to you,” we now find Paul and Silas beaten and jailed for “throwing the city into confusion.” But around midnight, in the midst of the darkness, filth, and pain, “Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them…” Then an earthquake shook the prison’s foundations; the doors were opened; and everyone’s chains were unfastened.
David's question is, “Where did that song come from??” We don’t know how or why they worshiped and prayed in the pain, with no hope of release – but it was while they were worshipping that their (and everyone else’s) chains were undone.
