The enemy's primary weapon is not temptation itself but the question underneath it, the suggestion that God's character cannot be trusted and therefore his word cannot hold weight for you.
This is part three of the Temptation of Sons series. The teaching recaps how part one established that the enemy's strategy is to cast doubt on God's character so that his promises lose their value to you, and how part two mapped the three stages of sonship (child, young man, father) onto the three categories of temptation (lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, pride of life). Here the focus sharpens: a son who is fixed on what surrounds him has already begun to drift from who surrounds him. Circumstance becomes identity. Situation begins to crowd out position. The teaching holds the line that salvation is simultaneously a situation, a position, and a testimony, and the enemy's aim is to use the first to unravel the other two. Sons are not called to react from what they see but to respond from what has already been settled in Christ.
SCRIPTURE: Genesis 3:1-5, Psalm 84:11, Romans 8:32, 1 John 2:12-14, Romans 6:10, John 3:16
SERIES: Temptation of Sons. A multi-part teaching tracing how the enemy targets sons at every stage of maturity and how identity in Christ is the only ground from which temptation can be answered.
