January 23, 2005, 3 NYC firefighters died in one day in 2 separate fires. FDNY’er Richard Scalfani died in a house fire in East New York, after his equipment got caught on a coat rack. Earlier that day, FDNY Lt. Curtis Meyran and firefighter John Bellew jumped to their deaths when trapped from the 4th floor of a Bronx tenement fire . Joe DiBernardo died 6 years later.
