Moosaa Richardson delivers this Friday sermon from the minbar of al-Masjid al-Awwal (the First Muslim Mosque) of Pittsburgh, drawing from the lessons in personal refinement found in the opening Verses of Soorah al-Mu'minoon (a translation of which follows):
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, Ever the Merciful.
1. Successful are the believers.
2. Those who are devoutly focused in their prayers.
3. Those who turn away from frivolity.
4. Those who discharge zakaat.
5. Those who safeguard their chastity.
6. Except from their spouses, or their captives of way, such are free of any blame.
7. But those who seek anything beyond that are the transgressors.
8. Those who uphold their trusts and agreements.
9. Those who safeguard all of their prayers.
10. Those are the inheritors.
11. Those who inherit Firdows (the best levels of Paradise), wherein they dwell forever.
This Friday khutbah was recorded at al-Masjid al-Awwal on the 10th day of Rajab 1438.
