Happy September folx, and we are down to the last 4 episodes of the summer edition of the podcast. As I am typing this, I am reckoning with very bittersweet feelings as I get ready to head back to LA for the rest of the summer. I am super happy that I was able to finally Cheska Navarro on the show as we’ve been following each other’s work online for some time now.

In this episode, I had the honor to sit down and get to know more about Cheek’s overall journey from growing up as an artist, and eventually facing the decision of following her dreams as she carved her own path as she switched from medicine to music.

As both freelancers of Filipino + immigrant parents, we were definitely able to relate on touch on some very hard topics about family dynamics, expectations and ultimately choosing to push through against all of the odds.
