Over one week in August 2018….75 young composers attended the 10th edition of the Sound and Music Summer School, hosted at the Purcell School on the outskirts of London. Having packed their bag, said goodbye to their families they travelled from across the UK, with the ambition in just under one week to create a brand new piece of music and see it premiered.

With the help of a team of experienced, infinity knowledgeable and inspiring tutors and musicians, this is a week to immerse themselves in a world of composition and explore musical ideas away from the restriction of marking schemes and curriculums.

Whether it’s the jazz, vocal, cross-cultural, advanced instrumental writing or film group this is a Summer School like no other.
