While New Year’s day is a month away, we still have a great resolution for you to make today. In fact it’s the greatest of all. It rises to the surface in Romans chapter six today on Sound Doctrine. It’s here that Paul encourages the Roman church - and us - to kick sin out of our lives! That a tough task, considering we are all sinners.

How concerned are you about holiness? Some aren’t concerned at all about it, others go way overboard into unnecessary strictness, and still others have their own code of conduct! God made a way to be saved, and that’s through Jesus. The world will tell you that there are many ways to heaven, but in fact, faith in Christ is the one and only way. We’re in Romans chapter five where Paul explains who and what we are in Christ, by contrasting Adam with Jesus.

As we continue our look at Acts chapter eight today, we are reminded of the fact that God can change anyone’s life - no matter how bad they’ve been. Saul of Tarsus is a perfect example of this. He was a persecuted of Christians. He mocked them, tortured them and found great delight in their pain. Then he encountered the very God he was mocking, and his life changed completely.

We’ll be continuing a study in Romans, and cover some more ground in chapter five. You remember the story from Sunday School I’m sure. Adam and Eve were told not to eat of the forbidden fruit in the Garden, but they did! And because of that one sinful act, it brought sin, death and condemnation into the world. But I’m happy to say what Adam did to the human race is reversible. And today’s study will make that abundantly clear.

If you want a good picture of what love is, look no further than God Himself. He not only demonstrated His love to us, through the sending of His Son to this earth, but He lavishly pours out His love into our hearts once we believe! And it gets even better! God wants to enable and empower you to love like He loves! Sounds like a worthy goal!
